This week we focused our energies on marketing podcast from www.socialmediaexaminer.com.
Sometimes we find ourselves looking for information to help us with endeavors
and when we cant find the information we tend to feel like maybe it is not
available, but after this week we have found the importance of podcast. The
first podcast watched was dealing with learning how to navigate the social
media jungle. Majority of the podcast dealt with placing thumbnails on www.youtube.com videos. One of the major
points discussed was rather or not marketers should create one custom thumbnail
to use with for every video that they put on youtube.com. The response was “no”
for every video that is put up a different thumbnail should be used. The reason
for using a new thumbnail is to differentiate each video, because when people
look up something they see the title and the thumbnail first and foremost. For
those who do not have the time to create a custom thumbnail for each video it
is advised that one creates a template and customize it for each video.
While performing the
marketing research we gathered some very important information. There are more
than 1 billion users on youtube.com, who upload over 6 billion hours worth of
video every minute. For all of those companies looking to reach people between
the ages of 18-34, youtube.com reaches more US adults between those ages than
any cable network. This is important because most companies are looking to
reach people in this demographic area and youtube.com makes it easier to reach
large amount of those people, its just up to the marketer to pull the audience
to their channel.
The second podcast that we gathered information from was
dealing with social techniques that could be used for the successful launch of
a new product or service. The video mainly dealt with putting a new product or
service in the face of your existing audience and getting them excited about
it. A piece of advice that they offered which seemed important with any launch
is to start early and come up with cool names, this helps keep the audience
excited. They also mentioned that something that will help is to keep the
launch creative because everyone loves a mystery. It is advised that you keep
the audience curious about what you are doing without really telling them.
The final podcast that we used for this blog post was
dealing with mobilizing your website. A lot of times people over look the need
to make their business websites mobile, but what they fail to realize is that
over 53% of the US has a smart phone. This means that ½ of any businesses
customers or more are using their smart phones to gather information on a
regular basis. It mentions that emails in the mornings are the best times to
reach out to customers because they are checking everything from their mobile devices until they reach work or their
destinations.
